What Is Ho'oponopono?

November 22, 2021

Dear Reader,

The Hawaiian word, "Ho'oponopono" is beginning to be another new buzz word, just like the word "journey" became a new buzz word that took off this last year. What's going on? Why are people everywhere talking about a "journey" and "Ho'oponopono"? Is my book finally starting to take off?? Are people finally getting it??? Well, frankly, it's about time!! It could change your life. I mean, it WILL change your life, if you apply it correctly.

Perhaps everyone is starting to waken to the fact that we ALL have been on a "journey" .... known as "The Hero's Journey", from the perspective of academic Joseph Campbell. And myths being his forte, Campbell often spoke of the "hero" in many a story. However, being proud of my own heroic journey, I deemed it a better fit to be called, "The Heroine's Journey"... and since my story was NOT a myth, but rather "a tale of love, forgiveness, and the implications of universal laws", I found it quite important that I made it clear what the implications were when I personally violated natural laws (spiritual laws/universal laws). It's quite important that you learn how ho'oponopono rendered me forgiven and released me from the debt of my negative karma, (that being Lyme disease, a mini stroke, and a mild heart attack) and put me on a better path toward understanding life better.

Having created my own negative karma of Lyme disease, it took several years before being led to the answers of why and how I got that sickness. Learning from various authors like Rhonda Byrne and Wayne Dyer, Ester Hicks and Louise Hay, I began to understand the Law of Attraction better, or "The Secret" as stated by Rhonda Byrne. I understood how I had caused the heart attack and the mini stroke. Also, living in a spiritual community where we recite principals each week that refer to the Natural Laws, I began putting the puzzle pieces together. I violated natural laws. I was out of harmony with these spiritual laws. And then one night in a meditation class, it was Shirley, a sweet elderly medium in the community that first used that word, "ho'oponopono". And BOY.... has it made a difference in my life!

So what is it? What is Ho'o Pono Pono? Well, it's a practice of forgiveness. It is a means of reconciliation, to make mends, to make right any mistakes you have made. whether with another person or situation or with a group or community of people. (And it's like Jesus said, when you make a mistake, make it right. Or if someone else makes a mistake, turn the other cheek and forgive.)

Ho'oponopono is like the wise sage grandfather or grandmother who has seen all that you have done since.... well... not just the beninning of your life, but since the beginning of time. Consider all your family ancestors, all the wars, the battles, the broken homes and communities that wars have caused. Think about the physical harm to people and countries and to the land during times of war. Consider the hurtful words you said, the pen you forgot to put back. Consider the karma that comes from a negative action we put out or negative thought we have. Now consider the karma that comes with war... BUT... before you go and get yourself deeply upset about your role in times of war, consider this one small piece of information that even Jesus (Yeshua) spoke of in the Bible.

Forgive as you have been forgiven. As you forgive, YOU are forgiven, As you GIVE, so shall you RECEIVE Do unto others as you'd have done unto you. As soon as you stop and think about the person who has harmed YOU, consider forgiveness, for as YOU forgive.... the harm you have caused others, YOU will be forgiven.

What if...

Now... what if every harm, sorrow, suffering, sickness, poverty, or broken relationship... that YOU have experienced, it is because YOU have caused that in someone else's life... at some point, whether this life, or in another, for the sins of the forefathers go three and four generations and since the ALL is mental, and cells carry memories and trauma, can we not just forgive others, and love others and we can rid all negative karma from our family ancestry?

Ho'oponopono is a Hawaiian forgiveness reconciliation practice. It is a process that begins with a prayer and contemplation, that moves into personal responsibility, and with a child like heart, states:

1. For what ever harm or sorrow that I or my ancestors may have caused you, from the beginninoyg of time to this present moment, I am sorry. 2. Please forgive me, Forgive me for my mistakes, my hurtful reactions, for my wrongdoing, my part in the conflict. 3. Thank you for the understanding, for the grace, for the compassion, for the forgiveness. Thank you for seeing me. 4. I love you. I love you unconditionally. I love you.

What if...

What if healing were really that simple? What if making a relationship better only required this heartfelt process, would you do it? What if this simple process was able to cure cancer, heart attacks, strokes? What if this simple practice could heal one from the present "virus" pandemic...what if I told you it helped save my momma's life the first time she was put on a ventilator as I spoke these words over her, on her behalf, AND then again the second time she began incorporating into her life herself. And by the third time my momma was brought to a hospital and put on a ventilator, I told her she was becoming a pro at manifesting those trips to the hospital BUT... I was no longer going to be able to sneak in.

Sadly, the fourth time my momma was found unresponsive at the nursing home and put on a ventilator, she was already gone. Perhaps she discovered the "secret", applied it, and was given the blue ribbon for crossing the finish line, learned what she came to learn..and then made the transition to the other side painlessly.

Ho'oponopono is a process for clearing negative energy, memories, karma. When we clear the past, we clear the foundation for building a new life. Every day we have that opportunity to begin a new day, a new life. When we #ReturnToHooponopono, we tell the Universe, I'm ready to receive my divine birthright of love, joy, peace, goodness, abundance, and heaven on Earth.

Why not give it a try? Let me know how it works for you! Now tell the Universe, "I'm ready to receive my divine birthright of love, joy, peace, goodness, abundance, and heaven on Earth".

I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love you.

Mahalo nui loa,

Aloha,

Gail Lynn
